About us
School of English Centre of English & Translations was founded in Dublin in 2006. Our aim is to make it easy for you to live, work, learn and travel across Ireland and anywhere else. The school is proud to have an extensive several - year - experience in teaching English as a Foreign Language, obtained both in Ireland and in other countries. Thanks to our experience in teaching, we make an effective use of modern teaching programmes, by adjusting them to current practical needs, in order to:
help professionals update their qualifications with immediate effects
help pass Cambridge exams
teach how to communicate effectively
Our priority is Student's satisfaction with learning with us!
Methodology of teaching
We use a communicative method, which is considered nowadays as best and the most effective way to teach English. This method enables students to learn a language in a practical way, by being exposed to every day authentic situations, role plays and communication games, thus assuring fast progress in learning the language.
How you can register for a course
To enroll on a course, we would like to invite you to a three-stage qualification procedure.
Written placement test
You can take the test on-line on our website or in any location where we run classes. The test checks the level of your English. It consists of questions of varied difficulty, starting from the elementary level up to the advanced one. The test checks your familiarity with grammar structures and vocabulary, and allows us to initially assess your language skills.
Speaking test and Needs Analysis
This part of the test is based on a 10 - minute informal conversation on general topics, in order to verify your results from a written test. It takes place during an enrolment meeting or before your class, and is aimed to get you familiar with a course syllabus and learning materials. At this stage, you can get advice about which course to choose or obtain more information about Cambridge exams.
Choosing the right level and course for you.
After we know your written, oral test results as well as your language needs, we help you choose the right course.
Teachers
All our teachers are university qualified and have many years experience in teaching English as a Foreign Language (TEFL). They hold a recognised certificate in English Language teaching, recognised by the Irish Department of Education. The majority of them also teach in other prestigious, more expensive, language schools across Ireland.
Learning Resources
We use the latest teaching materials and publications by Cambridge University Press, as well as supplementary resources from internet and other authentic materials. All learning resources are provided by a teacher on each class in the form of free photocopies. Candidates who wish to sit one of Cambridge Examinations are advised to purchase their own student's book .
Certificates of Attendance/ Letters of Confirmation Student's Participation on a Course
Letters confirming participation on a course and certificates of attendance with a gained level are available, on request, to students with minimum 80% attendance.
